Intro to Kantian Metaphysics

This is an announcement for the Pizza Seminar, a grad student initiative
where PhD students present to each other over a free lunch. Talks can be
a chance to present something from your research of general interest,
practice a conference presentation, or just tell us about something
interesting.

The talk will take place in JCL 346 on Monday, January 7. We’ll kick the
year off with some fun and non-technical philosophy, presented by Pranav
Gokhale (@singular_value),

Intro to Kantian Metaphysics
Who was Immanuel Kant and what were his contributions to philosophy?
What is metaphysics? What is “is”? I’ll cover Kant’s bold attempt to
reset the foundations of metaphysics in terms of “synthetic a priori”
judgments, as well as its implications for Kant’s moral philosophy.

Hey @singular_value

Great talk and food for thought earlier today!

Can you share your slides here may be? If not slides, then just the suggested reading list would be great.

Thanks!

Sure! Here is the suggested reading list (whole slides are > 15 MB)

For accessibility, adding text titles here:

  1. 50 Philosophy Ideas You Really Need to Know by Ben Dupré | Goodreads
  2. Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics - Wikisource, the free online library
  3. The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living by Ryan Holiday | Goodreads
  4. The Story of Philosophy: The Lives and Opinions of the World's Greatest Philosophers by Will Durant | Goodreads

Oh, did you mean you couldn’t upload because of the upload limit of 4MB? A Dropbox (or any other upload service’s) link could be an alternative, but I was mainly looking for the readings, so all cool.
