Subject: Blood Donation InfoHello grad council friends,
We both have this flyer and text. Please circulate whichever you think is best to the other grad divisions, the need for blood is urgent!
This is a summary of what the chiefs sent us:
UChicago Medicine needs you! The COVID-19 pandemic has put tremendous strain on the U.S. blood supply. While there is no evidence that coronavirus is transmissible by blood transfusion, the current pandemic is impacting the blood supply by reduced donor presentation, cancelled blood drives, and reduced donor eligibility across the United States.
Some UCM blood suppliers have stopped shipping us blood products. The American Red Cross (the primary supplier to UCM) has recommended reducing hospital blood product utilization by 25%. Given this threat to our blood supply, we MUST increase our blood collection on campus
Our UCM patients and the UCM Blood Donation Center need your HELP! Please consider donating blood or platelets now.
UCM Blood Donation Center is located in DCAM 2E (just before the skybridge to CCD). Please call (773) 702-6247 now to schedule your appointment. Scheduling your appointment will help us be compliant with “social distancing”. We are cleaning and disinfecting after each donation and will be ready for your arrival! We cannot have physical queues of donors and can have only two donors
in the waiting room at once.To have a successful experience, please remember to eat a full meal and drink plenty of water prior to donation. We offer double incentives for platelet donation.
Thank you for your donation of life!
